Wedding Day Emergency Kit: What Every Couple Should Pack

No matter how well you plan, a wedding day always throws up small surprises: a safety pin moment, a sudden headache, a smudged lipstick just before the pheras. A small wedding day emergency kit keeps these from becoming stress. Pack it a week before, hand it to a bridesmaid or sister, and forget about it. Here is what we see couples actually use.

For the bride

  • Safety pins, bobby pins and a small sewing kit for blouse and dupatta emergencies.
  • Lipstick, compact, blotting paper and makeup remover wipes for touch-ups between ceremonies.
  • Pain reliever, band-aids and any personal medicines, because long days and heavy jewellery can bite.
  • Extra jewellery screws, earring backs and a small mirror.

For the groom

A stain remover pen for the sherwani, extra buttons, a pocket square backup, breath mints and a phone charger. Grooms also underestimate how warm safas and sherwanis get, so a small towel or handkerchief earns its place.

For everyone

Water bottles, light snacks, phone chargers and a power bank keep the whole side going. Keep cash in small notes for last-minute vendors and tips. A pair of comfortable flats or slippers for the bride is the single most thanked-for item at every wedding we shoot.

Pack for the photographs too

Oil-absorbing sheets, a comb and a small perfume help you look fresh in the later ceremonies. If the couple wants confetti, smoke bombs or sparklers for any frame, keep them in this kit with a lighter, and tell your photographer where they are.

Who carries it

Never the bride or groom. Give the kit to one organised person, your sister, best friend or cousin, and make sure the photographer and the family know who that is. One kit, one person, no confusion.
